London-based Nigerian producer P2J has remixed the track “London Love,” by New York duo Weslee. Joined by the king of Afro-dancehall, Stonebwoy, this feels like one last slice of summer.
P2J’s sun-kissed remix for ‘London Love’ sees Stonebwoy, the Ghanaian superstar, adding his Afro-Dancehall flavours to this latest version. It already has the makings of a heady hit. And for good reason: P2J is convinced that Afrobeats has been steadily infiltrating the U.S. airwaves for the past few years. Davido, Burna boy, Wizkid and of course, Stonebwoy … it’s likely most will have heard their music thumping out of car speakers this summer, bringing the uplifting vibes you want when the sun is out. For a few years, he was one of the key producers for artists looking to add an Afrobeats edge to their music. “London Love” is one such example, where Stonebwoy’s powerful voice combines with the hypnotic sounds of Weslee’s Emma, bringing new energy to the original track.
Stonebwoy dropped his 4th album earlier this year, which featured the likes of Keri Hlson, Alicai Harley and Nasty C. His latest collaboration on this remix reflects his pan-African dream, though he has no plans to leave Ghana anytime soon.
This P2J remix of “London Love” trades in the soulful vibes of the original for similarly smooth Afrobeat accents.
